Raising Lobster: When AI Stops Advising and Starts Working

Have you started "raising lobster" yet?
It's the new buzzword in AI circles. OpenClaw, an open-source AI agent, has exploded overnight.
The hype, in numbers:
· 13+ major Chinese tech companies launched integrations in weeks
· Millions experimenting, with lines wrapping around buildings to get it (see pic from Tencent HQ 3 days ago)
· Why? Because AI is finally moving from conversation to execution

For marketers, this matters.
For the first time, AI can truly act - not just advise. A 24/7 digital employee that can monitor competitors overnight, segment audiences and trigger campaigns, or adjust ad spend in real time.
This is AI moving from "thinking" to "doing." Hyper-personalization and lean teams amplified by AI suddenly feel real.
But here's the reality check: the "Token Tax"
Every task burns computational resources ("tokens"). One complex task can cost millions. Users report agents are "amazing" but also "very unstable."
So before diving in: Does efficiency justify cost? Is it reliable enough for high-stakes work? Probably not yet for compliance-sensitive or client-facing tasks.
The real advantage? Your AI "Operating System".
Installing tools is easy. Adapting them to your business is hard. Three layers matter:
1. The Cage – Security protocols before granting access
2. The Brain – Feeding it your proprietary knowledge
3. The Hands – Connecting it to actual tools (CRM, analytics, etc)
This isn't an IT project. It's leadership work. Rethinking how work gets done, from the top.
AI won't replace you. But a marketer who masters this will replace one who doesn't.
So, have you started "raising lobster"? And more importantly, are you ready for what it takes? Still figuring out my own lobster-raising journey 😂
